White Oak Group is a family-owned and operated outdoor living contracting firm based in Apex, NC, near Jordan Lake. We specialize in crafting customized outdoor living experiences, overseeing every project from consultation and design to installation. Our goal is to deliver premier outdoor living transformations tailored to each client’s unique needs.

Our services encompass a wide range of landscape and hardscape design and installation, including renovations and additions of outdoor living spaces. This includes outdoor kitchens, fireplaces, four-season rooms, decking, irrigation systems, and poolscaping.

Established in May 2018, White Oak Group was founded by John Michenfelder, who developed a passion for outdoor design from an early age while working at his parents’ nursery in Apex, NC. He further honed his expertise by earning a degree from Sandhills Community College in Pinehurst, NC, and completing an internship at Augusta National Golf Club in Augusta, GA. With over two decades of experience in the green industry, John recognized a significant gap between basic landscaping services and custom, high-quality design-build companies. He founded White Oak Group to bridge this gap, ensuring personalized, one-on-one attention to fully understand and realize each client’s vision for their ideal outdoor space. John holds a Plant Professional Certification and is a Licensed Landscape Contractor and Licensed General Contractor with the State of North Carolina.
